“Why Does My Hair Break When It’s Wet?”

“Why Does My Hair Break When It’s Wet?”

If you’ve ever experienced the heartbreak of watching wet hair break and fall to the floor without the help of a pair of scissors, you know how scary it is!

The culprit? High porosity. That means your hair has experienced damage from environmental factors, over use of chemical treatments, or excessive heat. The result is lifted cuticles on the hair shaft.

High porosity hair absorbs a lot of water quickly, as much as 50% of its weight, where normal porosity hair absorbs 30%.

The more water it absorbs, the more your hair has to stretch to accommodate the water. Once hair has extended beyond its comfort zone, it gets weaker and weaker.

Eventually, it breaks. And when it’s fully dry, hair is puffy, swollen, and rough to the touch. Styling is a nightmare.

Fortunately, you don’t have to put up with high porosity hair. You can actually get rid of it—safely and beautifully!

With a keratin smoothing system, we can eliminate frizz and restore healthy, shiny hair. All hair types, including colour treated, can enjoy this remarkable treatment. Don’t you deserve hair that looks and feels beautiful?

Get Your Vitamin C This Way

You know it’s important to eat fruits and vegetables to get a good source of
Vitamin C. Without this crucial vitamin your health becomes severely compromised.

But did you know that for the best anti-aging results, it’s best to get your vitamin
C topically? You simply can’t safely ingest enough of it to get the desired results.

And the results are nothing short of amazing! This powerful antioxidant slows free radical damage, those pesky, unstable molecules that damage collagen, cause skin dryness, fine lines and wrinkles.

But there is a catch. Vitamin C is unstable. If it is poorly prepared, then its benefits are lost. You can rest assured that the vitamin C we carry has been carefully prepared, preserving its powerful benefits.

We’re serious about skincare and it shows on your beautiful face!

More and more celebrities are choosing shorter hair lengths so they can showcase their facial features.

Vanessa Hudgens is one of them. Her naturally curly hair is layered, cropped and pulled away from her face. The emphasis is on her cheekbones and her eyes. It’s a beautiful look!

Keira Knightly has always followed her heart when it comes to her hair. Now with a classic bob, she, too, shows off her dynamite cheekbones and beautiful eyes.

Honestly, is there a hairstyle that doesn’t look good on Cate Blanchett? This cut isn’t as short as a pixie nor is it as long as a classic bob. With side swept bangs and a casual tuck behind her ears, it’s a beautiful short look that frames her face beautifully.

No matter what look you choose make it an expression of your style. And that’s where we come in. We love enhancing a woman’s natural beauty!

Celebrity Beauty Myths Busted!

posted by Lissa Logan

The next time you’re beating yourself up because you don’t look as gorgeous as your favorite actress, you might want to keep this in mind.

These women have a real investment in perpetuating their flawless image. Here are a few of the myths you’ve heard and believed.

“I’m not wearing any make-up.” Even Lady Gaga owned up on this one. “There’s this idea that it’s all natural, but everything has been staged to look natural,” she said. “Don’t you think that what’s on the cover of a magazine is quite artificial?”

“I was born with thick, fast-growing hair.” Hmmm. Remember when Katie Holmes got tired of her chic bob? Within a matter of weeks, she was sporting longer locks. That’s pretty hard to do since hair grows at the rate of half an inch per month. Most certainly she was wearing hair extensions.

“I was in a bikini six weeks after having a baby.” If you hire a trainer and work out hard for one to three hours daily, you can most certainly achieve this. Otherwise, it takes about eight months to a year.

Not many of us can afford to bend time to suit our wishes. Yet, models and movie stars are paid to create the fantasy of quick results minus the hard work that goes along with achieving those results.

So what’s our point with all this? Good health and beauty are never a free ride. Work with your aesthetician to steadily achieve the results you want.

That’s always the best path to take anyway. Be glad you don’t have the pressure of perfection weighing down on you!

How To Beat Dark Circles

How To Beat Dark Circles

How To Beat Dark Circles

Dark circles caused by allergies, stress, and fatigue can really wreak havoc on your entire look.

Some lighter chemical peels can help with under eye discoloration if it is due to hyperpigmentation.

Unfortunately, for a great many of us, that’s just not the case!

Make-up and eye products, both of which we offer, greatly reduce and disguise the appearance of dark circles.

But if you wake up one morning and your dark circles are doing a tap dance on your face, try one of these home remedies to get fast relief:

Cucumbers-This is a tried and true approach! Slice a refrigerated cucumber into thin slices. Place on your eyes for 5-10 minutes. The coolness will help to reduce inflammation and lighten the skin under your eyes.

Cooled, Used Tea bags. Green, black or white, it doesn’t matter. All three help to reduce inflammation and lighten the under eye skin.

Spoons! Refrigerate two teaspoons for an hour or two. Then place them over each eye for a cooling, refreshing result.

Once you’ve completed your home treatment, apply eye serum and make-up as usual. You’ll be thrilled!

What Causes Hair Tangles, Breakage, And Frizz?

What Causes Hair Tangles, Breakage, And Frizz?

Ack! You can’t get a comb through your hair, it won’t do ANYTHING, and you’re wondering what you did to deserve the worst hair in the world.

Take a deep breath. It’s all fixable!

Those pesky tangles are caused when the outer layer of your hair becomes damaged and opens up. The more damaged it is, the worse the tangles.

Not good for either of you. Damaged hair can result in frizz and breakage. That’s your hair sending a second very loud S.O.S. message, (in case you didn’t get the first one about tangles): “Help! You’ve pushed me too far!”

Common culprits of hair breakage are perming, chemical relaxing, coloring, and bleaching your hair. That’s why if there is any question about the condition of your hair, we do an elasticity test first.

If your hair isn’t stretchy, it’s not ready for a chemical service. And all that frizz? Another S.O.S. message to hydrate your hair. Ease up on styling tools, blow dryers, curling iron, or flat irons.

Over use of styling tools rob your hair of moisture, and that means no shine, no body, no bounce, NO fun!

A good trim is also definitely in order. Add a series of in-salon deep conditioning treatments to push nutrients further into your hair.

Your mission? Love your hair as much as we do. Take good care of it!

Your Scalp Can Get Sunburned Too

Your Scalp Can Get Sunburned Too

Your Scalp Can Get Sunburned Too

One of the most overlooked areas when thinking about getting sunburned is the scalp. Sad to say, even the scalp is susceptible to skin cancer.

Here are a couple of tips on how to protect your crown from the harmful rays of the sun.

  • Wear a cap. Every time you’re going out in the sun for more than a few minutes, a simple cap is the best way to protect your scalp.
  • Use sunscreen. A spray-in sunscreen is handy for defending those thin spots on your head.

But if you do burn your head, here are some steps to treat your sunburned scalp.

Gently shampoo your hair and apply some moisturizer to your scalp.

Avoid blow-drying, hard combs or brushes

Don’t use products that contain alcohol — these will all make the drying and peeling worse.

Make sure to keep your head protected and you can have some safe fun in the sun.
